By now, everyone in Aruba knows about the existence of an animal welfare organization in Aruba under the name Animal Rights Aruba.
ARA is celebrating her 10 year existence and the organization wants to continue educating the public with different programs e.g. the sterilization program that had to be paused due to insufficient funds. Awareness campaigns at schools and a petting zoo are still in the pipe line. And now, ARA has been approached by the FCCA to form an alliance with the neighborhood police to deliver information to the community and bringing them closer to the organization.

Starting June 24th, 2009, Mr. Roy Mezas, President of ARA, along with his team will be holding the first meeting in the neighborhood of Juana Morto and on July 1st, 2009 with De Vuyst.
Information will be available for all visitors who have questions and they will have direct conversations with the ARA team, regarding their pets and those of others in the neighborhood. ARA is very pleased the FCCA took this initiative and hopes that these meetings are also possible with other neighborhoods.
Fundraising:
On Sunday, July 5th, 2009, ARA is organizing a Funfair on the parking lot of Talk of the Town from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. as a fundraising event, where the entire family can participate. The day will start with Zumba Fitness Step It Up, Etty Toppenberg will be entertaining with his guitar music, Kidz In Action will present a show and Shining Stars will have kids dancing for everyone, our Roadmarch King Brandon Riley will give a few performances, Mr. Juan Camilo Vazquez from Eco Fauna Control will bring his Harris Eagles for a demonstration, Philip Merryweather will present his collection of animals, there will be live music from Prive, Sazon Cubano, Perfect Sound and our Tumba Queen Anoushka Odor will be there all day with Megateca Genie. There will be a Dino Jump for the kids, a flea market with a large selection of items for sale, food and beverage in variety and lots of cake.
IN the last 10 years, ARA has developed a good relationship with the press, of which we are very grateful and would like to strengthen this alliance.
This year, ARA would like to present a token of appreciation to the press member with the most support offered to the organization, by means of reporting, taking pictures and publications through the radio, television or newspaper.
For now, ARA gives out a special thanks to Awe Mainta newspaper, for the daily publication of a section dedicated to the organization contact details, and Mr. Raymond (Baboe) Hoek, who is the first to call and air spots on the radio. This service is very valuable to us which is why we appreciate this effort.

ARA also thanks all sponsors and individuals involved in the fundraising event and all media who are always there for us, and last but not least our volunteers who work around the clock to keep the organization running.
We hereby invite everyone to mark down their calendars on the 5th of July, 2009 and come spend the day with ARA at the parking lot in front of Talk of The Town.
